1: Connecting cities
Per turn, you may build one route between two cities
Where doesn't matter, as long as it's a new route
It doesn't have to connect to your other routes
No opponent's train cars can be on it
The colored boxes indicate the train card color needed
Player colors? The boxes have nothing to do with your player color
Examples of your construction projects:
4 red boxes between two cities
give up 4 red train cards - locomotives are also allowed
3 gray boxes between two cities
3 identical train cards in any color
For double boxes between two cities
choose one of the two colors
With 4 players the second line can also be built
The second line belongs to a different player
Locomotives are your jokers
One locomotive replaces a train car in any color
Using multiple locomotives at once? No problem!
Have matching train cards or locomotives for a route?
Pay with them and put them on the discard pile
Next to the draw pile, visible to all
Place train cars on the boxes
Your game piece moves forward as many points as the board indicates
Ferries only with locomotives
Routes over water have locomotives on the boxes
To build, you must give up at least that many locomotive cards
Tunnel building - a gamble
Tunnel routes are identified by jagged edges
You give up the required number of train cards of one color
Then draw 3 cards from the deck
and hope they don't match the color of your played train cards
Each drawn card that matches your played train color costs you 1 additional card
Example:
You play 4 green train cards to pay
You draw 3 cards from the deck
2 of them are green
So you need to pay 2 additional green cards from your hand
Locomotives can also be used.
So before building a tunnel, make sure you have more cards than needed or locomotives
